Starting an Archives Blog – Diving in!

Swimmers diving into a lake- represents me diving in to the new archives blog project

I recently attended the annual conference of the Association of Canadian Archivists in Montreal, Quebec. The same thing happens to me every year after attending this conference. I am inspired and I get excited. When I get this way, my instinct is usually to dive into some new project and when I jump in, it’s usually head first. Hence- this archives blog!  I love what my colleagues are doing out there. In their own way and within the confines of their own institutional contexts, they are all pushing the boundaries of our profession, thinking about new ways to connect people to their past, and exploring the possibilities that technological innovation presents for archives. There is something about being around archivists that always makes me feel like I should be doing more.  I want to share the projects, the people, the published work, and the news stories that inspire me. I want this to be a positive space, filled with the ambitions, experiments, and contributions of my talented colleagues (and maybe a little bit of me thrown in there for good measure).
